Kettle List Update: Spa day booked

Kettle List ticking off update

It feels like an age since I have done anything towards the list. Well apart from drink the odd coffee, booking my L.A flights and zip down a zipline, that is. So I was very glad to finally book up another task. And also start on an important aspect towards another one

Getting a 40 x 40 task done

Many months ago, possibly before Christmas, my best friend and I agreed with would forego Birthday presents and instead have a spa day. This was a great idea on two fronts:

One– A spa day?! Yes please!
Two– It’s on the 40×40 list.

I think I initially added this to the list in an attempt to try out that whole ‘speak it out to the universe’ thing. If someone needed an idea for a Christmas/Mothers Day/Birthday present it was right there! A voucher for a spa day!

No-one bit, sadly and it joined #15 & #11 as items I did not complete before I was 40, and the list officially ended. Of course, those who are keeping up – well done by the way! – know that ‘Complete the 40×40 List’ is currently ‘Task 2’ on the Kettle List. (I know, it seems complicated. The best thing I can suggest is for you to subscribe, and I will keep you up to date)

But that’s fine, because now the pair of us have booked up to visit a spa. There will be treatments, leisurely swimming, unattractive sweating in the steam room, more swimming, and the mass consumption of wine. Well, that is how I am picturing it, anyway. I will, of course, let you know how it goes.

Time for TEFL

It is something I have considered for a number of years. When I initially studied for my degree it was with the intention to teach, but it just hasn’t happened. I think I knew I didn’t really want to teach in the UK education system, as I am not in particular agreement with a number of their policies. Teachers are great – what the government, school authorities, and even some parents, expect of them isn’t. I feel I would make a great teacher in the right creative environment.

So I have decided to invest some of my birthday money in a Level 5 course, which includes a full weekend of classroom experience. The course lasts for 6 months, from the date I pay for it in full (just paid a deposit for now), so I am hoping to clear some time in my diary to devote to getting this completed.

To run parallel with this I am working on creating a few craft sheets and lesson plan ideas, that I will have on here to download – just as soon as I work out how to do it.

I can even supply my own apron for messy crafts!
