Working on your side hustle

Cabin fever set in yet, or are you enjoying an excuse to rest and do nothing? Thought about starting a side hustle yet?

Maybe you feel you should be doing something a bit more constructive with your time. You may even be getting a bit worried about how you are going to supplement your income if this lock-down continues.

Well you, my friends, are in luck. I have been spending my time scouring the net so you wouldn’t have to so I could bring you few ideas to boost your quarantine side hustle funds.

What is a side hustle?

Well, it depends on who you ask.

According to Google, it is a job that you do as well as your full-time job;’On the side’ as it were. It could be something that you have a passion for like teaching music or making art. Maybe you have found a quick and easy way to make passive income on Twitter or through your blog.

Either way, a side hustle is a bit of extra cash you can make on top of your regular income, and in these uncertain times who wouldn’t want to try that?

This post is going to focus on something anyone can do – surveys. But if you are currently working on something, be sure and share in the comments so we can get everyone helping each other.

Sign up for some surveys

As side-hustles go, surveys are not generally very lucrative. They pay out pence and aren’t worth the time involved for the money they payout.

Having said that, I signed up with a few companies on March 26th – as of today (April 1st) I have made almost £30 for just filling in surveys.

It’s not enough to live on, but if you are just flicking through your social media feeds or watching youtube videos (guilty on both charges!) then you may as well do something constructive.

Mini Disclaimer

The survey sites I used also offered codes to get friends and family to join up, so I am going to link them and that way if you do sign up, I can make some extra cash – if you don’t mind. It won’t cost you anything but will be helping me out.

Oh My Dosh

Oh My Dosh‘ is a site that has all of the links to other surveys and money-making opportunities.
I made £5 on my first day with them – and if you use this link to sign up, I get more free money – and then you can get a link to go on your Facebook and get your friends to sign up and make money yourself.

As well as no-spend offers, there are discounts, deals, competitions and shop and earn opportunities. If you are going to buy anything online it is worth checking if there is a way to make money from it.

£8.95 is not a bad start.

Life Points

This is a survey site that has given me my best payout. In 4 days I have enough points to cash in and receive £25 through Paypal (I’m going to let it ride and see what I can get in another week or 2). Some of the surveys are quite lengthy, but you are given rough timings of how long it should take you. There are also polls and quizzes, and you often get points even if you are not suitable for the survey.

MaxMiles

Another site that offers you a link to get your friends on board (and awards you with 500 Maxmile points if they complete 2 surveys). You are given points for completing surveys and games which can be saved and exchanged for up to 200 different rewards.

There is also an opportunity to gain points through ‘click and earn’ while shopping with a number of well-known brands.

A ‘head’s up’ for you

No-one is going to be making their fortune through these sites, if you just want to make a little extra on the side when you have 20 minutes spare to fill in a few surveys then I think it is well worth looking at. Don’t think about giving up the day job anytime soon though.

What’s your hustle?

I am currently working on an e-book about Bucket Lists, designing a course and helping people with their C.V’s. There is any number of opportunities out there.

What are you trying out? Do you have some further suggestions or maybe even some links to your own survey sites? (Make sure you mention in the comment that it is an affiliate link or ad so everyone knows or I will have to ‘spambot’ you!)

Do you have a course, e-book or a skill you are currently selling? Let us know so we can all help each other out.
