Welcome to Autumn – Seasonal changes at Polly’s Pad.

Seasonal changes

It is no secret that Spring is my favourite season; all the green buds, baby lambs and excuses to wear cardis. But this year brings extra change at ‘The Pad’. My youngest has changed schools and starts his GCSE’s, Tiggs is starting college and Han is off to uni. There is a possibility that I may be looking for a new job, and, most significantly, I am now newly single.

So you can see why I haven’t been writing very much, and why my August Insta feed was so bare. That, and the whole ‘working from home’ and my TikTok addiction have been keeping me busy.

While I haven’t written a great deal on the website, I have been writing.

I completed my third speech at Toastmasters, as well as organising an International meet-up with a group from Osaka. My haiku poetry book is finally finished, and I am working on my second one as well as continuing my Japanese lessons with Noriko-San.

The Plan

The plan remains the same; I am finishing my TEFL, learning Japanese, sorting my house and going to get a teaching job in Japan. The only difference now is that I am going to spend a year or two concentrating on the house and getting the kids settled into whatever it is they want to do.

I am going to have to double down on the budgeting, and start making my writing earn its keep. Item #26 of the Kettle List was to create a stock of crafty things and then sell them at a craft fair. Since lock-down I have been seriously considering an Etsy store to sell things on. Perhaps now is the time…

I will need to put in a bit of work before we are this ‘minimal!

First things first…

First of all, I am going to completely gut the house – within reason! We are going to declutter like we have never decluttered before. So the coming weeks will feature lots of before and after photos, as well as articles on the different interior ideas I have for the Pad.

I will also be pulling out the autumn wardrobe, so there will be a few pieces on Mori-kei or Cottage core fashion.

Thirdly, I will need to refocus on the Kettle List and see what I can get done this year. Luckily, one of my tasks is “Be happy with my home” so at least I’ll be making a start there,
